Goldenloch april -11-11
Normal service has resumed at the Goldenloch, with the last week being reasonably normal, anglers have had it pretty good, most have had at least 6 to 8 fish as an average catch, however there are lads visiting who don’t seem to know the water and have blanked, yesterday saw 2 such groups of lads, however 1 group obviously were of the opinion that they were never coming back and failed to pay, but strangely entered their names in the catches register???, the wind that has been the annoyance for most of March seems to have died down, the pesky cormorants have decided to return to wherever they came from, so generally things are much calmer than its been for a long time, The Goldenloch has never really being a loch famed for really big fish, we have over the last few years seen a few crakin fish come out of the water, mostly averaging about 8lbs which for the Goldenloch this is really good, as we up till now have only ever put in fish which at the most would be a kilo (2.2lbs) so anything above that has grown and basically is pretty natural, in that it was not introduced as a pellet feed lump, before the water was poisoned back in 2007 we were getting the odd fish caught in the region of 10 to 12 lbs, and Colin Jefferies from Auchtermuchty the record holder here took a fish at 18.5lbs that had grown to that size over the years and eluded many anglers, so it is with much pleasure that I can announce that last week we put in 4 extremely large and fit fish, not pellet fed, well not for the last few months, 2 rainbows, 1 brown and 1 blue, I was hoping that someone would have caught one over the weekend but it never happened, Catches at the weekend were really good with many lads catching up to 9 and nearly everyone getting fish on proper flies as opposed to blobs and big lures.
