Saturday was a brilliant day with lots of anglers here, all catching lots of fish, thank goodness, after the last couple of weeks of constant cold winds and wet days, which were making the fishing really tough, but this year is now turning into a crazy season, some days are busy and others with no one about, but this has been a bitter cold few weeks weather wise, when watching the weather forecasts on the TV it is noticeable the jet stream is much further up than other years, also that there is a much bigger areas of high and low pressure spots, high pressure at this time of year can be really cold, and they are slow to move, the only really good thing is, that fish feed while high pressure is present. Sandy Fairfoul, Newburgh, returned 2, the following lads all returned 20+, A Morgan, A Cuthbert, Michael Fairweather, D Wilson, Rod Thaw, Scott Fraser, with Richard Mc Cleary getting 2, Sandy Band on 15, hopefully this next week will get better, if anyone has some extra reels that they don’t need, please we could use them as the coming few months see some beginners coming and we like if they can afford their own to give them a rod and reel.

Storms seem to be coming one after another, this latest one with so much wind has definitely stopped the anglers from appearing. It has also really stirred up the water which was clearing beautifully, it is now a slight shade of brown, fishing last week was reasonable considering the weather conditions, Jim Anderson Perth had 6 all returned, Sandy Band 3 on Diawl Bachs, S Gourley 4 on Diawl Bachs, K Jones 4 on Buzzers, M Selvey 8 returned, K Robertson 9 returned, Les Mitchell 2 on Olive and Green, Stuart Penman using a small yellow dancer and cats whisker 3, Neil Fraser 3, Jock Souter now to be fair here was fishing in atrocious conditions on Friday 0, two lads out in the gale on Saturday had E Grieve 2 and E Brown 3, so everyone did ok considering the shocking conditions.

April 1st and the new season is well underway, Prices for 2024 day tickets are staying the same, basically we have one ticket, Catch and Release and it is £20, it’s up to you, how long you stay, up to a max of 8 hours, however for those that want a fish for the pot, Catch and Release plus a fish it is now £28, Anglers wishing to kill extra fish will be charged at £8.00 per fish. We are doing an evening ticket which is £15.00 for pretty much 4 hours, these prices are for Boat or Bank, you decide or if boats are available, you can mix and match, however taking a boat and then tying it up at a jetty, is not allowed unless you are camping. Basically, all your Fly fishing requirements can be met, experienced, beginner, corporate groups, Youth groups, we have all equipment necessary for up to 24 people, Instructors can be arranged by appointment at all levels, we aim to provide an environment hear that is friendly, with Fly Fishing first and foremost the objective, relaxing, unwinding, just forgetting all the troubles of the world we live in plus of course to catch a few fish. We are now approaching the end of March, the weather has seen some nice days and today George Duff and I spotted flies rising off the water, at the far side of the loch, I then saw a couple of very small flies land on his back, he thought I will put two small black buzzers on his line, and well after ten minute’s he had returned 4, just goes to show that even in really cold weather things do happen, but the best catching method just now still seems to be a blob or a skinny worm, or a cormorant fly, When we last stocked three weeks ago, it was a load of 750g fish ( about 1 1/2lbs ) a nice health size, fighting fit, so catches here just now are genuine acclimatised fish, not fresh stockies hungry for pellets, however it is still cold and this week is to be another cold one  this week, lads today were extremely happy, Michael Fairweather and Rod Thaw both excelled as usual, Sandy Band 15 now that’s a good days fishing, Leslie Mitchell and Stewart Penman had a full on fun day with 20 between them, Jock Souter had 8 all returned, the PKDC wellbeing group an a very windy day had 10 all returned, Fred Paddon 6, A Morgan 5, A Cuthbert 3, Colin Hay 7 Paul Hentges 5, C Gibhi 4,H Frankland 6, Mike only out once this week on 6.
