Goldenloch 07/07/2008
Loads of showers but no substantial rain at the Goldenloch this year, we have never seen the water level as low as it is, its been several weeks since there was any real substantial rain and its beginning to have an effect on the loch, the infill water has stopped as has the outflow, anglers are now having to cope with the boats bottoming out at the mid and rock banks whilst there is still plenty of depth in other areas, however the fishing has picked up in the last week but its still quite hard for those that are fishing lures and stripping flies through the water, the best results seem to be coming from the lads that are using small buzzers and small dry flies, D Heuchan fishing with the Riverside FFC had no problem in catching his 4 for 8lbs using a small dry Midge, as did Euan Amos, Dundee, fishing with his father both caught 3 each and returned several using yellow/lime buzzers Colin Jeffrey and L Dick Auchtermuchty had 3 each all returned using buzzers, with the evening rise still occurring at or around 11 pm its not surprising that many miss it however two hardy lads arrived one day last week and fished till 3am both catching 7 each which were all returned, never having fished late before they were surprised at how light it was after 12 and that seeing what they were doing wasn’t such a big problem.
