Goldenloch 30/06/2008
Fly fishing at the Goldenloch has always been a bit tricky during the day at this time of year and its just trial and effort that will find the right fly pattern, depth and where the fish are in the water looking back at the reports from previous years the same problem has occurred since 2002 and it usually ends about now, this last week has seen a improvement in the catches, mostly however in the mornings, B Hayes Kirkcaldy using a combination of bloodworms and buzzers had a good session with 3 for 9lbs returning 6 his best days fishing ever catching all from the bank, as did H Right Arbroath who caught 4 using a Montana and a Hares ear, W Patterson Glenrothes a regular at the Goldenloch had 6 with 2 for 8lbs using a diawl bach, but the main problem this year has been the weather with cold evening winds putting the fish down however last night saw a nice warm breeze, Jim Wilson Dalgety Bay arriving late and fishing from the bank had a great evenings sport, Jim commented that there was fish moving just under the surface all night taking small buzzers and nymphs but the rise that occurred after 10 was so huge he could only stand and stare at the water as it literally burst into life the fish were after a largish green buzzer that was popping up in all areas.
