“Goldenloch”
November-10th– 2019, Week 44
Proper winter clothes were needed this weekend, those that have them were nice and toasty, those that didn’t well blue noses and frozen fingers, definitely the fishing was better later in the day, afternoon early evening fantastic, Darin Taylor had a bumper time on Sunday afternoon, small black flies hatching at the top of the loch brought on a hue amount of rising fish, he was there and in his catch had 3 cracking brownies, catches this week are all good Colin Hay on Tuesday had 11, Neil Christie had a storming day but only killed 1, A Morgan using a green lure returned 8, A Cuthbert returned 10, Derek Robertson returned 3 all on black/green wets, Grant McGregor 5 returned lost many more on yellow dancer, George Murphy 5 returned, the loch is full up and the water is nearly at max overflow, the only other times it is like this is when there is a massive fast snow melt 2007 I think, this week I have been doing drags in the loch pulling up weed to look at and examine the crustations in the loch floor, for this I use triple hooks very large ones and drag them slowly for say 20 meters lifting them gently usually produces a sample that gives and indication of snails shrimps and others which is normal at this time of year however there also seems to be a larger than normal amount of blanket weed, I will be watching this as it can cause an early spring/summer bloom of brown algae
