The wind is just so annoying, but we are kind of sheltered a tad so it’s not that bad, however it has been really constant, this past week has seen a few nicer days, the results are showing through in the catches, the perch seem to have gone to ground, they really haven’t been annoying many people, just Leslie Mitchell for some reason, I was going to drain the water out but a gentleman, a knowledgeable conservationist, has persuaded me to persevere with what I have, allowing the trout to stabilise the perch population as they will soon be perch fry bashing that in itself gives a degree of fun to anglers, I will say however that 100% of attending anglers this week have had what they came here to do which was relaxation, peace and tranquillity, catching a few trout and maybe some perch, the water clarity is pretty much near perfect (Seechi 2+ m) they water level is at maximum ( never before in late August ), the wildlife just now is just crazy, four Ospreys maybe 5 visiting with crows and jackdaws attacking them, zillions of martins flying low over the water scooping miniscule flies, baby rabbits and hares almost in every corner, last night when an angler was going home a peregrine Falcon was standing on the road eating something, its been here a few times now, I first saw it about five years ago and I thought it flew like a supercharged eagle, this week’s results are, Roy Kelly to-day 5 released +3 perch strong wind lost 4, great day, yesterday Mark Beaumont 5 trout 12 perch, and James Beaumont 3 trout 23 perch, Pete Haynes 3 released + 4 Perch great day, George Duff 7 trout all released, Scott Fraser 15 fab and cormorant’s fish were chasing top of the water, great sport, Rod Thaw 12, Chris Thomson 2, back after a summer break A Cuthbert 12 Sandy Band 2, J Morrison 11 trout (2 tigers) 15 perch Fab day, J Souter a very heavily disguised trout looking like a perch !, Willie Watson 5 and a few Perch, Tom Scott 11, and Sandy band 5 so not to bad the well being group back this week George Tod on 5
Fly Fishing @ the “Goldenloch” for trout with a home tied Fly, is one the nicest ways to relax the body and the brain, time and time again clients say how relaxing and peaceful fishing here is, a day’s fishing is something to look forward too, many people say a bad day fishing is better than a day at work.
