It has been good fishing for last few days, however on Saturday morning, I didn’t get up at daybreak as I had heard a car go past early, like just before dawn, I knew it to be Rod Thaw, as he is usually quick on the water I took my time getting up, ( It’s an age thing, moving quickly first thing isn’t easy ) anyways, I caught up with him mid-morning, he informed me that there were 12 Cormorants circling and 4 on the water, this year is really crazy with the cormorants, it is the 14th of November, I have now exceeded the count for the whole of December 2022, been a strange week with the fish, they are in shoals or up the far side, so we still allow beginner’s to fish for free, we can provide assistance however if they have someone to show them what to do that’s even better, we have an age restriction ( Insurance ) on children under 16 is a no no, unless they are supervised by a adult, they must wear eye protection and a life jacket we have these here, spinning and the use of Mepps is not allowed other than that just come and enjoy, Now this is interesting lately I have noticed that the weed has started growing again in patches/areas, now it’s not aggressive, just that it is there, I do believe that the excessive rain this year has washed any remaining Nitrogen and Phosphates out of the surrounding farmland, I have just done a nitrate test and yes it is high, Today Sunday the temperature has taken a sudden and dramatic drop, with a wind change, boy is it cold, the resulting effect is a complete drop in the fish being interested, catches this morning were good this afternoon its been poor, I have a huge amount of fish in the water, a lot due to the lack in fishing in October and September, but they are still there results this past week are >> G McKay 1 Returned, C McKay 4, Jim Hay 10 on Nymphs and Dries, Rod Thaw !7, Bob Mitchill / Stuart Ramsay 3, Kieth Duncan 5 on Dries, Stuart Cameron 8 + 1 Tiger Great day, Sandy Band3 returned, Donald Robertson 3 / Colin Dow 1, Mike Bradshaw breaking in his new rod 11 hares ears and cormorants, John Cowie 4 /Bob Cowie 1, Colin Jeffrey after a long break 1, Tom Smith 12 + a Tiger / Robert Sneddon 3 on dries, Andrew Morgan nice to see him again 4, Alec Cuthbert unfortunately 0, While John Bowman had 12 on a green/red Montana, Woof did well on Sunday morning, very varied returns but great fishing was had by all.
