Its that crazy time of year again when the weeds take over, mostly due to the way the weather it has been, it is crazy this year, complete bonkers, the weeds have exploded in growth in the last couple of weeks, normally I would be out there pulling them out with the winch, but it’s out of order, I am waiting on a new carburettor being delivered hopefully tomorrow, but it is not all doom and gloom there are still plenty of places to fish that are weed free, but however as usual the fish are in the weeds, probably for them it is much cooler down there, some lads are have amazing fishing on the bank sides and at the deep hole where the temperature is 11-3, the Perch are absolutely fantastic to catch, they can put up a massive fight, David Wilson, Kettle Bridge, seems to have mastered the art of catching them earning the tittle, Perch master, our pesky Ospreys are currently giving us a break just now, visiting occasionally, like twice a week or thereabouts, probably due to not being able to see the fish, due to the weeds, It is pleasing to see the rain today, Sunday, albeit just showers, the loch level has dropped approximately 30cm in the last two weeks, I can’t see this rain bring the level up very much, but it’s good for making the grass grow, { I Groans} the trees and shrubs round the loch are looking good, especially with this warm weather, another bonus with the rain is that it should, I hope take the pollen out the atmosphere which recently has been absolutely horrendous, so more about the fishing, snatchers and crunchers have been doing well, but definitely blue ones as the amount of misty blue shrimps in the water is unbelievable, yellow owls and CDC have also been a gamechanger especially small and I mean tiny ones, a few fish being caught on Buzzers and Diawl Bachs, now on Thursday just passed we had our wellbeing group of complete novice and beginners, they had a great day along with the obligatory accompanying Bar B Que, the group is getting bigger every week and they love it, other lads visiting on Thursday were Jim and George as well as Colin Dow and Donald Robertson, 2 on Diawl Bachs, M Fairweather 5 returned on mayflies, Ian McGregor 2 on Invicta’s & a Mayfly Nymph, S Gunn 10 on buzzers, John Cowie 5 returned and Bob Cowie 3 returned Great day, Tuesday saw Nikki Wood evening session get a couple on a CDC, Sandy Band 2 on Shipman and Robbie de Koning sadly zilch, on Monday however A Cuthbert got 6 Perch, M Mitchell 3, and A Anderson 4, Derek and Debbie out with 6 returned many more with similar results.
The cost of our fish, camp and fish, is £50 which includes the following, a boat exclusively for your own use, an evening session £20, a site camping £10, and the next days fishing £20, which gives a total of £50, we consider this as really good value, everyone doing it thoroughly enjoys this and the use of our facilities, so I was gutted to be shortchanged £40 this past weekend, especially when I know that the two people had enjoyed there fishing
