Now its April, Woopee , that should really get rid of all the winter blues, the water level is very high just now, with all the rain, on the farms there is absolutely no work being done on the land, the last time I can remember it being like this, was in 1979 the year we got married, we had continual wet weather then, till mid-April, my dad kept a very comprehensive diary back then, on the 1st April 1979, he went fishing to Butterstone ( His favourite Fishery ) he went on his own, the cost was £24 as even although he was a single angler, he had to pay double for a two man boat, Quote { I caught 7 fish with the average being a good estimation 1 ½ Lbs, some smaller some bigger, great day Osprey had a few } the next year 1st April 1980 he went to Loch Fitty, with his buddy from Auchtermucty, { had a great day, fish everywhere, especially at the pier, 31 for the boat I caught 17 mostly on wet flies Loch Ordies and a Bibio, fish are strong and in great condition, great value £12, 9 till 3 }, here I can’t get any work done due to this awful weather, yesterday the group was here from Perth, Lloyd and Gerry in charge, with a care worker in attendance, now these guys have never fished before, they are out here to get free from city life, [plus a few other problems] experience the wide open spaces with a bit of fishing thrown in, guess what they are getting it good Fish are getting Caught and the happiness factor is there to be seen, a Bar B Que is usual every week, compulsory I get to sample the delicious burgers, top rod this week Rod Thaw who definitely gets it right most days followed by Alec Cuthbert and Andrew Morgan, Geoff Gadd been getting good catches as does Sandy Band, always fishing from the bank Sandy constantly catches 5 to 8 fish, I have been doing some pretty heavy duty pruning and I tripped over a branch landing on my Buttock and boy is it sore, so been in had a hot bath and its not so bad but pretty sore, Message to self is be more careful [Again]
