Another quite week but still a few enjoyed getting out to fish, nice to see Sandy Band and Jock Souter really early followed by Bob Mitchell, however it was a cold day and that’s the problem with January, the weather can be so temperamental, but all were catching fish, the wind is very unusual this year more so than ever, with a lot of east winds which are never good, cormorants are back being a nightmare, I actually saw one with a fish stuck in its throat, it couldn’t get it up or down and it was in distress flapping about, a lot to do in the next wee while, with boats needing washed and painted, its not that bad a job if it was just a wee bit warmer, I just need to man up and get on with it, back to my old farming days it used to be said that if there was mild warm weather in January, then expect a blast in February, at least it is nothing like it was in 1963 which I can remember as we had just moved here to Berryhill and the farmhouse relied on a coal fire in every room for heat, was that a cold house or what, the snow out side was really deep and it lasted till March, down at the loch we have a lot of wildlife just now the swans are still here and have been walking all over the ice just keeping safe from Reynard who is busy on Rabbits at the moment, crows and jackdaws are back but nothing like before, so this morning 50% ice is gone it is still however at the boat end, with the breeze it should be all gone by the end of today
