At the fishery we are not overly busy, it is however just past the middle of January, the few that do turn up are managing to catch fish, which is really good news, it’s not that easy though, but pretty much it’s the cold air and wind to blame for forcing the fish deeper, if we had just stocked then I suppose everyone would be over the moon and delighted with bigger catches, but for those that have managed to catch fish, then it was fish well fought after, nice to see Brian Dewar and Eck Burns out, they had 3 each, Dougie Cooper and his partner XXXXXXXX, had a good few 7/8 plus, but even they admitted it was cold, I found out today that Rab Grierson is not been keeping very well, not seen him for a while, used to see him a bit and his banter was always good, I wish you well Rab, I assume you still read my reports, summer will soon be here and there is always a place here for you, Jim, George , Colin and Donald my Thursday boys here’s hoping you are keeping well, I miss my chats, the same as with George Duff who I assume is getting his tomato seedlings growing, it’s a funny year so far such an unbelievable amount of rain, the ground is absolutely saturated, impossible to drive on, this coming year should be good two loads of fish in so far, another due at the end of January, I have been doing a fair bit of research into O2 levels in relation to fish saturation, I do take oxygen levels as a matter of coarse when I do the temperature, only ever once noted a significant drop and that was four / five years ago on a thundery summers day mid-July, Bob Mitchell 7 on Friday past, Jock Souter 1 C&R, lost 4 plus numerous touches, Alec Cuthbert first outing in 2023, 3 returned pretty cold day, Rod Thaw 16, with 1 about 5-6 lbs, on Thursday past Sand Band 7 on APPS, while Stuart Penrice was on 5, fishing with Leslie Mitchell who is currently going through a difficult time.
