Winter has now officially arrived with the clocks going back, for those that haven’t noticed, it brings with it the arrival of cormorants, they hunt the water at speed and terrorise the fish, in doing so, the fish are starting to move about again, fish feeding heavily so as to be able to survive the winter months, Cormorants do so much damage to fish in so many different ways, they eat them, normally a few at a time, they damage the fish with their razor sharp bills, they also terrorize them, at this time of year the water is gin clear and the cormorants can be seen and heard at distance, the fish dart quickly to some hiding spots, staying there for a few hours, getting a licence to shoot to kill isn’t easy, and it takes forever, also just now there are few anglers that are on freebies ( beginners ) your grace time is over now, its winter fishing so everyone pays from now on, there are quite a few Tiger trout in the water now, so please record when you catch same, Sandy Band had 2 in his catch of 12, R Johnston 3 returned, A Choe had a tiger, C McIntosh 4 + 1 at 3lbs, Lloyd John from the bank, Colin Dow 2, John Bowman 2 tigers in his return of 5, Davie Bange 3 Josh Bange 1 having a great day, Steven Fraser 2 and his brother Scott 4, John Cowie 9 Bob Cowie 1, but even although the air pressure was at an all-time low again this weekend people were enjoying their days fishing especially Rod Thaw and Lloyd John who both caught a lot of fish, many thanks to them for moving over allowing others access to where they were fishing, I have a lot to do before the spring in 2023, wow first time I have typed that, gosh do the years fly past, seen a lot of people and still do see some turning up after a lot of years absence, I must admit that it is nice to see them, I need to think about doing something about next years weeds soon, as some that’s are telling me they are catching new weed on the bottom of the loch, it never stops.
