Fishery Blog, Monday, 29/08/2022,
Pretty good water clarity these past few days, the water Temperature seems to be hanging at around the 14 > 15 Degrees, which is good especially as some days the outside air is 16 to 17, I have still been working at the weeds again, but now it’s easy, as they are well past there best growing stage, anglers are now catching loads of Perch, no one is complaining because they are getting good catches of good fighting trout, with some lads getting blues and tigers in there days fishing, it really is mixing it up, I was talking to Henry Adams, Edinburgh yesterday and although he and his son only come here once a year, he said that there is nowhere he goes fishing where he feels so relaxed, and at £20 for the day, that is including a boat, it is definitely the best value around, strangely we talked about the mix of fish and he said he had caught a Brown trout, there hasn’t been any of them caught for weeks but it is getting back into the right time of year for them, this one was approx 3lbs, lots of smiles from anglers these days as they come off the water, however the lack of rain is beginning to show now, as the levels keep dropping, we get small amounts but nothing to make any difference, work on the loch continues and as a point of safety, a small wall is to be erected on the side opposite where the boats are tied up, this is to prevent anyone accidently driving into the loch, just about everyone takes there stuff down to the boats nowadays before returning there car to the car park I worry that some may drive to close to the edge, with another load of fish due this week things should liven up again I am having a war on the Perch in the next few weeks I have some traps which should catch them, but I have also bought a “Hand Cast Fishing Net Spin Network Easy” basically it is a net that you through over the place that there is a shoal of Perch, pull the chord closed and hey presto some Perch.
