“The Goldenloch” Fishery Blog, Monday, 18/07/2022,
Didn’t expect this, a wee chill with the weather over the last couple of days, it has “fair cheered up the Fish” weed pulling is going on all the time, with the plan that the areas in front of the jetties to be completed by the end of today, 75% of the loch area has now been done once, there are tufty bits here and there but plenty areas for fishing, we have been in this position before, and stupidly in those days had removed all the weed, on that thought I am cautious as to how do I approach the rest of the loch, do I really want to pull out more, I don’t think so as this is still July, the water level is lower than I expected also there is signs that Algae is really trying hard to get started, nearly every one fishing having a great time, had one lad yesterday not pleased about the weed, said I hadn’t told him about it , but all sorted and he was happy to get a refund, I am really sorry that happened, I do hope he comes back once the weed has all gone, extremely well chuffed Darin Taylor did very well, Scott Fraser, Dundee, 10 returned in 1 ½ hours all on dry flies, John Cowie fishing from the bank released 4 lost a few however he was using minute small dry flies and CDCs, John Grant 7 on dry flies during the brightest part of the day best fish over 4lbs all fighting well, George Duff 6 released dries and emerges plus he lost a few, Rod Thaw with 12, Lloyd John 8 on spiders and CDCs, Robbie and Arthur Martin, had a great time with 16b to the boat on Yellow Owls CDCs and Shipman’s buzzers, regular Colin Hay, Kirkcaldy, who enjoys his sport fishing and is a big fan of muddlers, recently using CDC Owls and foam Daddies has been really successful in plucking trout from the far end weeds extremely fit and hard fighting he has to keep them up out the weed, Grant McGregor getting better after a spell of illness had 14 returned obviously feeling much better, Best though B Finnie, returning after Covid of the bank doing well plus teaching his grandson. Taking advantage of the cooler weather, I will try to get some fish in the next couple of days, however I am sure that the suppliers will be busy, job done fish this week, it is very quiet these days it sort of comes with the weather windless days, the pollen count is high but manageable, looking forward to seeing some old pals this week, Kapt Kemp due to turn up anytime, maybe Neil, anyway the Pictures are from today
