“The Goldenloch” 12/06/2022,
Fishery Blog, June 12, Monday, Week 24.
Pretty good fishing when its “no blown a Hooley”, this week has been crazy, but in a great kind of way, most of this last week however, off and on saw me cutting weeds, then the wind would take them to the end of the loch, to be lifted out by my digger, however the best day was Friday I reckon more than 60% is clear now and fishable, but as usual the fish are in the areas that have not been cleared, and I mean lots of fish literally hundreds, best flies just now are CDCs and Crunchers, a few young anglers just now and even they are doing very well, “no charge for Youngsters” and “beginners” of which there have been a few, they enjoy the opportunity to come and practise until they start catching fish, this week saw a bit of a disaster though with one of my outboard engines, the best one of course, the most reliable, it is making some really weird noises, like crunchy grindy noises, it has served me well over the years so a replacement is being sought after, now doing daft things is what I do best but I genuinely am trying not to hurt myself, as I am on a special diet and really want to lose weight, so I am pushing myself into being both active and busy, however I don’t know how I did this but have twisted my left foot and boy is it sore, but needs must and painkillers will help, so on Wednesday night a solitary Geoff Gadd fishing and I told him to go up to the far end on his departure I got a double thumbs up and I see he wrote 10+ yellow Zulu, strange how the next day loads of Perch were caught Harry Frankland had 9 Perch, John Bashford had 2 and Ryan Mathison 2, meanwhile Lloyd John had 9 fit rainbows on shipman’s buzzers and Diawl Bachs, Friday saw a pretty strange day the wind was all over the place Blustery yet gentle and then blowing a gale Sandy Band commenting that the fish were close to the sides had 4 on yellow owls, Stuart Cameron arriving in what had to be the most windy spell had 2 but abandoned the boat and was on the bank, earlier on in the week Grant Mc Gregor 15, B Kemp 5, R Thaw 19, D Wilson had 8, George Duff on Dry flies had 4, Mike Gild 6, John Highfield 2,so all good and with crystal clear water a lot of rain, Lots of sun, less wind a lot less wind and plenty fish the future is looking good.
