“The Goldenloch”
14-11-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 47.
The 3rd week in November has turned out to be a really cold week, with the forecast getting worse, it is sure going to make going fishing one of the last things people would want to do, but anglers here at the “Goldenloch” are getting a winter surprise this coming week (I don’t normally advertise when we are going to stock) but for the trusted, loyal clients, season ticket, monthly tickets holders plus anyone wishing to come fishing we have ordered a load of “Specials” sort of as a big thank you, for their support, these fish are what is needed just now, a load of bully’s, to chase up, stir up, the complacent fish that are in the water, what day they will arrive I have no idea, but they are coming, so the fishing’s been a bit harder lately, but a NE wind for the last 2 days doesn’t help, a real low air pressure the week before, also the fish are definitely chasing minnows just now, getting it right brings big rewards Grant McGregor pretty despondent after a first few hours on Saturday morning, moved into a area that was bubbling with fish, returning 8, but also loosing a few “a very good day” was his comment, George Duff, said exactly the same he was using a very small bibio and returned 7 fish, Geoff Gadd on the other side of the loch was using a Black Pennell, returning 5, best this week was Ryan Mathison using a PTN returned 10, A Cuthbert fishing on a really cold day had 2 and Rod Thaw 3, Scott Fraser and his brother Steven have been doing exceptionally well usually catching 7 or 8 fish each, good to see an old friend this week Les Irvine, Perth returning 2, so the water is Gin Clear the winds haven’t been that bad with no days lost to stormy weather. The fishing is genuinely as true to fly fishing as it can be for this time of year, today in late afternoon we had rising fish as George Duff will testify, being that the fish he caught today 6 were fish that he covered, the pin fry is in quantities and things like silver Invicta’s or small white Kats, sedge hogs, so if you are looking for a challenge or a days sport fishing pop along.
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, both mentally and physically, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
