“The Goldenloch”
24-October-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 43.
Its nearly November, a few fisheries now closed for the winter, we stay open, not that we are that busy, but for those wishing to wet a line, its available, winter fishing tends to be for real enthusiasts, however a few guys are tempted by competition’s, and more recently getting big number catches, it is not like that here, we still have loads of feeding in the water and rising feeding fish, more importantly anglers fishing are getting their own private days sport, Grant McGregor yesterday in catching one fish, while Mr Padden only few meters away could do nothing wrong, indeed he moved to another spot, allowing Grant access to where he was casting, alas that didn’t help, but Grant a regular said afterwards “it’s not about the numbers you catch but the way you catch them, I still just love to come here” it’s the time of year from now till March where traditionally boats would be pulled out the water, repaired and painted over the next few months for the oncoming season, it is my intention to do this, replace the damaged woodwork round the edges, getting a boat into the garage at my house is hard work in itself, but it can be done, these boats that we have are doing really well, easy to row and manoeuvre, they are large ideal for up to three people, the system we now utilise at the docking station is perfect for anglers embarking, as they can get their cars to the water’s edge for loading and unloading equipment, getting in and out the double tied boats is also very safe, especially now we have the individual jetties and handy poles to hold onto, most of what we have is due to the thought and effort put in by Gavin my son, and I truly appreciate the effort he has put in I just wish he would get the new lodge finished which was kind of put on hold due to the current pandemic, once done anglers visiting will have a real nice place to change in, plus a fresh mains toilet facility, again Gavin has the plans on what is happening and I am sure it will me amazing, something to look forward to, so much better than the old stinky Portaloo of old.
