“The Goldenloch”
25-July-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 30.
There has very slightly been some cooler nights, a very welcome breeze allowing the loch temperature to drop ever so small to as low as 17o C, with the weed pretty much now at full grown, we can expect some die back soon, the blazing weather here on the East coast doesn’t seem to be as bad as the conditions in the West, we still have dull mornings and nice cool evenings, the fishing hasn’t been affected as much as I thought, anglers are being very gentle with the fish, nice to see that some guys are moving to a different spot or limiting what they catch, mostly due to the prevailing conditions, still concerns me however when a healthy hard fighting fish dives down getting a large lump of weed on its head then breaks the line as this fish will then probably die due to getting caught in weeds on the loose line in its mouth, I haven’t been working to much on the loch these last few days as I had a severe pain in my chest, which turned out to be Pleurisy, ( it is an inflammation of the sheet-like layers that cover the lungs (the pleura). The most common symptom of pleurisy is a sharp chest pain when breathing deeply) I thought it was because I was straining myself pulling weed, so anglers have been very reasonable and are understanding, Catches this week have been good considering the heatwave by far the best has been John Bashford Kinross, here at 5 am the fish are active in the cool water, Rod Thaw releasing 6, George Duff, Methil using black spiders 3 released but had loads of follows, Harry Frankland keeping 2 plus 2 released, Derek Robertson had a great nights sport with fish coming from all angles, Brian Gove Leslie on holiday fishing on a hot afternoon had 3 with 2 returned, but the conditions are weird just now lets hope that the rain does get here that is forecast. All pictures are this week including my two wee helpers.
