“The Goldenloch”
04-July-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 27.
Still some lads getting amazing catches, mostly on dry flies, its great fishing, however the most important factor is that the weather has been amazing, lots of fish breaking cover from the weeds and taking flies, Derek Robertson wrote “ 11 rainbows and 1 Brownie all returned, Suspender buzzers, Fantastic Rise and Sedge hatch, Everyone away before the rise started”, Ali Rudhi 10, suspender buzzers, Ross Cameron 2 kept, beginner Stevie Cook, released a big Blue, A Morgan and A Cuthbert had a great night as did Jock Souter and Jim Anderson, the list goes on, the fishing conditions on the loch this weekend have been hampered by some weed, it has just exploded in growth, however with huge massive areas free of weed, there is plenty places to fish without pulling weed, but it is the case that the fish are feeding and hiding from the sun in the weedy areas, that’s why this year I have left smaller more easily managed areas, so you get the proverbial complainers and well it seems like that if they cant catch 20 newly stocked trout in an hour, they arnt happy, as is what happened this week, with the water clarity superb, visibility for anglers is really good and the fish can see everything as well leading to some interesting takes, I am really active on the loch, what I am doing just now is pulling weeds, a huge area now seriously much better, and another couple of days will see a massive difference, my plan late July or into August, is to have a wee competition, it will be for Goldenloch regulars and the criteria will be that each competitor entering, hasn’t won a fishing competition before, or been an active competitor angler, we have mains water and electricity, toilet facilities ( especially now that someone knocked down the swallows nest with fledglings) so camping here or with a campervan is a treat, many this year have enjoyed Fish and Camp, cars can get to the waters edge, we as a fishery are adapting with more to come, as they say just watch this Space,
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, both mentally and physically, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
