“The Goldenloch”
27-June-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 26.
It is really interesting how the fishing is performing just now, some guys are getting outstanding catches, they can be literally fishing beside others that are just meters away, are getting very few bites, lots of offers and interested pulls though, we have a good head of fish in the loch just now, which you would think would make the fishing easy, but no it doesn’t work like that, so the weed we keep in banks in the loch is loaded with feeding, stonefly, pee muscle, shrimp, buzzers etc, the fish have a buffet literally at their mouths, so now it is just about July, to help improve the fishing, I am dragging some of these weeds out, started yesterday 26th June, 1st pull I must have got at least a couple of ton, it was laced with bugs, this week should see quite a bit more happen, plus some cutting with my weed cutter, However the loch is looking amazing with 80% weed free, crystal clear water, the water temperature has dropped, thanks to the colder air and rain, Rod Thaw had a good day on Thursday, 12 returned, using orange buzzers, returning yesterday, Saturday with his buddy, Dave Wilson, Kingskettle, it was Dave that had a great days fishing, 2 for 5lbs and 8 returned, while Rod had 2,Malcolm Brown had 2 on a green Shuttlecock, Peter Mac Diarnid managing 1, Brian Kemp, using his own Hares Ear + CDC had 4, Gordon Clarke, Auchtermuchty, 5 returned plus 1 Brownie, John {Huff} and his bud Stewart from Aberdeen had 19 between them, whilst Ian Graham had 20, as you will note some guys having great days, Derek Robertson, Dunfermline 11 using Loch Ordies and |Black sedges, Les Mitchell returning 1, Brian Imrie had 4 on Klink hammers, Jock Souter 3 on Buzzers, Wilson Graham had 2 r/bows, 2 Blues and 1 Tiger trout, regular Sandy Band seems to get 4 every visit but he relaxes loads and always on the bank never in the same place, we are always busy doing something interesting at the “Goldenloch”, wildlife preservation is now as is everywhere else really high on our agenda, so the Great Crested Newts, are breeding well, as is this year’s tadpole population, the fishery is suffering at the claws of the Ospreys this year as we seem to be losing about 6 to 12 fish daily just now,
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, both mentally and physically, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
