“The Goldenloch”
16-May-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 20.
It’s been much better this past week, I think everyone visiting had at least caught some fish, but quite a few anglers had 9 or more, definitely the year for people getting loads of offers, loads of fish on view up in the higher water level, but fish are shy just now, by that I mean they are not just taking flies, but rather nipping them, or pulling at them, take today for example Sunday, Sean and Darin fished hard with fish all round them, all day, the right fly seemed to elude them, however they had 3 each, John Basford was using the same flies that he caught and released 12 fish on Friday, but today he had 4, the only difference between today and then was, that it was an East wind, the temperature wasn’t that different but it was cold enough to stop the fish from coming up from the bottom, now newly stocked fish would make the fishing seem much better, definitely much easier, however fishing for stockies isn’t really that much fun, it’s like if an angler uses egg flies, (Dig), David Wilson and Rod Thaw had 18 on Saturday Rod using Buzzers, while Grant McGregor only had 4 using Diawl bachs and olive nymphs, Brian Kemp again using his own flies (buzzers) had 6, Bob Mitchel popping in at night with his float tube had 5 released, Friday passed was a great day with the average catch for 15 anglers at 6 fish, Brian Imrie catching all his on Klink hammers plus John Bowman had a blinder of a day with 8 returned, with as many lost fish, its getting to be more like it should for this time of year, but it still isn’t as good as it should be, there is a huge amount of feeding in the water, it is mostly in the weed that is growing pretty vigorously, snails, pee muscle and shrimp are in abundance, so that’s what the fish are gorging themselves on, Jock Souter Auchtermuchty had 5, evening boys Ross and Stewart Cameron with Stevie Coots had a great night loads of offers and misses with rising fish all around them Stevie getting his first Tiger trout, the Fishing just now, this year is just starting to take off, anglers can come here as early AM or late afternoon / evenings, 7 days a week, the whole idea concept of going fishing is to relax and enjoy the time you are with us, we can provide tuition’s at all levels, from complete novice to just needing advice on your casting, our water at the moment is crystal clear the fish are in tip top condition, boat or bank the choice is yours just get in touch or better still just turn up.
