“The Goldenloch”
02-May-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 18.
Pretty much the fly fishing season has at last got started, today at the Goldenloch, we officially had a proper rise, a huge one, with feeding fish, Dark green buzzers were hatching, the fish were active, a tremendous sight to see, not jumping fish but darting and twisting on the surface, just a pity no one was fishing, a rather large rain cloud had passed over an hour before making everyone leave, the forecast was heavy rain and the cloud looked awesome, but it did pass over with only some hailstones, then the sky cleared with a fresh feel to the atmosphere, its great to see and brings a little bit of cheer to this really horrible crappy start to the fishing season, Saturday saw guys all catching fish and Rod and Dave seemed to be doing the best, however they caught a few fish that had been severely mauled by having there tails eaten, so I have set up a wildlife camera as I suspect perhaps an otter, however I am not going to decide on this yet as quite a few years ago we had a feral rainbow trout that was taking lumps out of other fish, If anyone catches any of fish in distress please dispatch and leave on the jetty, Brian Kemp again doing well with his newly tied green / black buzzers, he was fishing in a very unusual spot catching 8, it is good for him and a real testament that taking time and getting it right with a lot of practise, this summer it should be hopefully be a great dry fly season, that when tying flies becomes a great thing to do, John Bashford broke his boggy and had a good day, as did Neil Christie and Billy Moyles others including Grant McGregor with a new rod had 5, Peter McDermid 2 with Malcolm Brown catching 1 its been a testing season so far yet it very much is the case that anglers are enjoying a day fishing and that is what it should be, at the Goldenloch you can arrive at anytime and leave when it suits Camping, Campers can be accommodated by arrangement, so lets get geared up for a happy season.
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, both mentally and physically, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
