“The Goldenloch”
19-April-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 16.
First ½ decent week in 2021, its been a long frustrating wait to get to this point, we genuinely had and can honestly say our first rises this year, Thursday and Friday saw reasonably pleasant weather and the water varied between flat calm and a then a intermediate breeze, it was then that the fish started a rise and true to form were in all areas, some lads did well others didn’t change tactics, however all rises were lost on Saturday and Sunday as the wind did a complete 180 degree turn and started coming out the NW which basically dropped the surface temperature some 4 or 5 degrees putting the fish back down in the water, only fresh stocked fish will be caught in these conditions, so I have arranged for another load this week to stir things up, as we are sitting on a massive amount of fish just now the fishing should just come alive with a good breeze, some heat, however the most important thing is the right fly, this week has seen some lads get fantastic results using buzzers, I have arranged for a casting clinic to be run by Brian McGlashan and only have 3 willing participants, I am looking for 4 more on a first come first serve basis, could you please get in touch with me either by calling or email with intention it will be some time in early May, Brian is a leading light in the world of casting and his advice is worth its weight in gold, everyone is free to apply, first cut of weeds these last few days it may have been cold but the weeds have been growing, easy cut this time, Fishing results are much better this week, Neil Christie Black Buzzer, 2 for 6lbs, Drew Graham 7 on black / silver buzzer, Brian Kemp using his own new ties is doing well, Brian Imrie 8 returned, Grant McGregor black/ green mini cat, L Dow, 2 killed some released Buzzer Cormorant, A Morgan and A Cuthbert 12 each all returned, D Wilson / Rod Thaw another great day Black and Green, George Duff having found a great new spot to fish 7 all returned Black / Silver buzzers, many more doing well, but the best thing of all everyone is really enjoying there spot of fishing.
