“The Goldenloch”
March-21-03-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 12.
Much better this week, not as cold, as the week progressed things really warmed up, so did the fishing, our fish are well acclimatised this year, 3 full loads in since the ice melted, plus the one put in just before we closed, so there are plenty fish in the loch, with not many killed, as anglers all seem to prefer Catch and Release, I got Sandy to gut a fish on Thursday and when we opened the belly it was fully stuffed with bloodworms and other ground based insects, some big ones at that, with the strange current conditions due to Covid regulations, the likely hood that going on Holiday this year may be curtailed, we are actively going to actively promote camping / fishing, this will also allowing more campervans at the loch, we have a good infrastructure, as we have mains water, proper sewage and electricity, so this is relatively easy for us to allow, we have a new lodge / fishing hut facility being constructed which should have cooking facilities plus much better toilets, hopefully the weather will be like it has been for the past few days, the water is warming, hopefully soon be at a temperature that will encourage the flies to hatch and insect life to start and move/breed again, the last three days however were exceptionally bright, which really made the fishing much harder, but fish were being caught before the bright sun and after it went away, great stuff, Ali did well 5 I think, Capt Kemp 4 all on his own flies, well done, Grant McGregor had a good day albeit a tad cold.
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, both mentally and physically, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
