“The Goldenloch”
February-07-03-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 10.
Its been a really cold first week, not really fly fishing weather, but with one or two guys on floating lines, something must be happening, one of them did outstanding on Wednesday which was the coldest day, not really been a busy week, as travel restrictions still exclude quite a few of my regulars, plus some of the more senior guys, well its to cold for them, to be honest its nice to be steady, not overly busy, I still have to put new floors in the boats, however they have been pressure washed and they were needing it, the fishing just now is really good, fish are everywhere and are being caught in all areas, I have really kept the cormorants away this year or I thought I had but some fish may get caught with stab wounds in them, {typical cormorant attacks} it is very slow to start with in the early morning picking up by 10 and by lunch time the fish can be seen everywhere, most days they go calm for an hour about 1pm but pick up quick till say 3.30pm when it just dies a death, notable catches were Brian Dewar and Alec Burns 10 , 11, Eddie Henderson on an exceptionally cold morning had 4, Grant Mc Gregor and his friend Ali did very well getting some nice catches, In all its been a pretty good start to the season and with all the fish caught only one had a stab wound which was caught by none other than Dave Wilson fishing with Rod Thaw both lads getting good catches really close into the shore
