“The Goldenloch”
February-08-02-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 06.
Its now the first week of February and pretty much I think we have just experienced the worst couple of days rain ever, yes in 2020, we had 3 or 4 really wet weekends, that saw water levels rise fast but, Thursday till Saturday this past week has got to have been the worst ever, my new weather station has not arrived, seems it is on backorder, without any rain gauge I have no idea how mush rain fell, but the loch rose 5 inches in one day, is at a level I have never seen before, the water at this end is also chocolate brown with the mud being so stirred up, with the ice all gone at the moment things are beginning to start looking better, the COVID-19 R number seemingly in Fife is below 1, and with deaths and new infections falling, hopefully soon we will see the travel restrictions being lifted, it is excellent news that the over sixties will soon be getting vaccine jabs, as I am shielded I will be getting a jag next week, with that plus a few more weeks life for me should begin to feel a wee bit safer, to be honest looking up my diaries for the past 30 years the first week in March is really the window in the weather regards going fishing, a few things being done at the fishery, well we cant really get much done but new floors for ½ the boats, to be painted with special anti-slip paint, holding onto poles for those needing something to grab, whilst dismounting from a boat, {tried out last year and were a huge success}. Its been way to cold to work at the new lodge but that is still on the cards, as is my new memory spot, ( alone at where the old hut used to be) I started last year and I intend to build it higher, to be overlooking the loch, have already got some trees in it, but with the ones very generously donated, plus the plants that have been donated, I intend building a simple bench, a wee shelter allowing visitor seating (spectating) I do have a plan, but its in my head Lol, however for the moment the ground is way to soft to travel on so everything is on hold, everyone winter is coming to a close just a wee bit longer and fresh fish in the water all will be good.
