“The Goldenloch”
January-17-01-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 03.
Still frosty and frozen, boats are now all out the water, (Lockdown Mk 2 ), ice is everywhere, so pretty much the right time to be closed, had we attempted to keep the ice broken plus aerators, well I suppose we could have kept the ice at bay, but because of our size it would be a nightmare, as the temperatures haven’t been that low, however one morning we did see some of the swans frozen into the ice, this new wave of COVID-19 is a bit frightening, as we are hearing about more and more people that are ill, pre-Christmas shopping looking like the culprit, with the numbers the way they are just now, it would seem that coronavirus is very active, hopefully the next few weeks, will see a big drop in infections, locally we hear about people that have had it, thankfully recovered, it’s a waiting game just now, staying at home can be really boring but its better than getting ill, I go down to the loch in my nice warm car, obviously cormorants arnt a problem this year, because of the ice, typical I have permission to kill and there are none, what clear areas of water there are, have a few fish moving in them, I have noticed some nice yellow bellies at the far end, obviously just looking for grub, but there are definitely a lot of brown trout moving amongst the reeds, Stocking is planned to start sometime in March with a double load, again this will depend on the coronavirus situation, all we can do is wait, it is interesting that the vaccine rollout is happening, don’t know where but a lot of people seem to be getting it, I would like to think by the middle to end of March we will see my age group getting it, that should make life a bit better, but we need to see the numbers drop a huge amount, also those in hospital need to get out without any going in, foxes are trying hard just now and their tracks in the snow are obvious a few pics to show that they are obviously killing something,
