“The Goldenloch”
November-30-2020-Week-47
Again it’s been hard these last few days, The temperature has suddenly dropped to a record low for November, it is currently at 3.00 degrees, last year at the end of Nov, the temp was 8 / 9, now interestingly there was a man here today (Sunday) he cracked it, George Duff, Buckhaven, who has been coming here for years, apart from growing fine tomatoes he is very good at finding a method that works, fishing from the bank, 1st Jetty, he noted that the fish were keen to follow, so clipping the hook off a booby, having two droppers both nymphs he pulling them across the water enough to make a small wake successfully had 5 in 20 mins all about 5 pm, but darkness got the better of the night, but it made his visit memorable as did Mike Farrell, earlier in the day getting two cracking fish a rainbow and a brown trout at 3 lb each, using a gold head damsel, this week we were paid a visit by a couple of lads that call themselves the “ Twa Dicks in a boat” Hector McNeil and Richard Shepard (Shep) here on a cold day eventually found the fish, I think had 2 and 3 returned, Derek Robertson 3 returned, Drew Graham this year has really enjoyed his fishing coming sometimes twice a week was here on Friday and caught 5, 2 for 5lbs, most have caught fish this past week its not been the easiest of weeks and it certainly was driech, which is a pretty perfect word to describe the weather, Neil Christie, Kirkcaldy was I am sure the only one to not catch anything, but he enjoys his days here, the freedom and the pleasure is from being at one with the elements as he says “Its good for his soul” a cracking fish was caught this week at about 10lbs, this fish was a sudden strike and gave a great account for itself, no name in the book so it was caught by Mr Unknown, also not knowing the name or who it belongs to, but I have at the house a Thermos Flask, which has been washed out, please claim.
