“The Goldenloch”
September-07th-2020-Week-35
Crazy times just now, the other night, windless, flat calm, bright moon which was unusual as most of the nights have been really dark lately, I drove down to watch the loch, basically I was really going go to see if I can see the Otter, ( that never happened) so I spent quite a long time just watching the water, I was totally amazed by the amount of feeding fish, hundreds, for 2 hours plus they were in all areas, it would seem like the fish have adapted to being able to cruise about in the darkness, small flies and insects were hatching in and on the water, the surface was covered in spent schuh’s, its no wonder that anglers are finding daytime fishing difficult, have other places got the same happening I don’t know, It’s been interesting fishing this last week, some days mostly the dull ones, anglers have just had an amazing time using dry flies or small traditional flies, the one common factor is that everyone has had fish all around them, visually loads of fish to cover, but the fish have a very soft approach to the flies just now, lots of tugs and offers are being had, on Friday morning a very early angler 5.45am on the water, said there were fish attacking his flies but spitting them out, swamping them, pulling them under, but trying to catch was hard, however he commented it was great fun eventually getting 6 to the net, our resident photographers have been getting some amazing pictures lately, They are restricted because of the Covid-19 regulations, and they don’t know the days that they can move freely, because of anglers, but they are very well behaved and stay beside their vehicles, it is disappointing for others that ask to come and take pictures but the way things are we do not think people arriving and touching things is acceptable, disinfecting is still very much part of our daily routine here, probably will be for a long time I think, Lately there seems to be an increase in the coronavirus numbers, so please start putting your name in the book plus your Phone number, its for track and trace, a hand sanitiser is in the lodge
