“The Goldenloch”
July-27th-2020-Week-29
Where does all the time or days go, It’s the end of July, thank goodness at last the fishing is picking up, still a bit unpredictable though, which is mid-day till 5pm, but its definitely much better in the morning and evenings, we are not busy but are steady, which is exactly how we like it, so there is always a space for those that decide to just go fishing, Brian Imrie, Kinglassie, had 4 on with quite a few tugs, as did Ronnie James on Friday night, Brian Dewar first visit since lockdown had 6 under a bung again loads of tugs-offers, but being honest not everyone has been so fortunate, so to buck things up I have ordered some smaller fish, the size of fish that I used to put in some 30years ago, yep I’ve been doing this for a long time, 1 ½ to 1 ¾ lb trout was the norm in 1990 up until about 2005, then the suppliers started feeding much higher protein pellets, plus growth inhibitors to the fish so that in the same time period they became a one kilo trout, breeding as well has improved dramatically, the fish that we get today are near perfect specimens, as the strain has become much purer, remember fish in the wild don’t really live that long, I have had it put to me that these aren’t wild trout, but equally my argument is that they after they are put in “The Goldenloch” they are no longer captive, living on natural feeding, so are pretty much are wild, Monday I am hoping that these beauties will arrive and I am being really hopeful that they will be easily caught, more so for the fact that on Friday, August 1st we have 20 eight year olds, hopefully all having a shot at fishing, I really want them to catch fish, the Loch is to be closed on Friday the 1st August , then it will be busines as usual, some one has left a fishing bag so if it is yours you will have to identify it and its contents, before I hand it over, they weed problem has pretty much ceased to be a problem, more of an advantage in that it is providing great cover and a lot of feeding.
Fly Fishing is one of life’s oldest leisure activities, A Pastime, it is not only relaxing, it is rewarding for the mind and soul, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only peaceful surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
