“The Goldenloch”
July-06th-2020-Week-26
Its now week 26 we are half way through the year and so far its been the craziest year ever, even this past week has been absolutely mad, with the air pressure fluctuating like a yo-yo, the fish do not like sudden change, but it wasn’t just the atmospherics it was also, the wind and the temperature as well, mixed in with some real heavy rainclouds, but the fishing has remained pretty static some people have fared better than others, but generally everyone has done well in catching fish, Huff and Puff decided on a 5am start in the middle of this past week, that being the worst couple of days, the fishing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday being much better, the Dave Wilson annual fishing outing did reasonably well with most getting 2s and 3s, Rod obviously had to catch a lot more so as Dave’s average was higher, it’s the weed that’s getting in the way however, tomorrow will see a big effort to get rid of a large area, I am not going to touch the patch at the top of the loch, I may cut a section out the centre, thus allowing anglers the ability to get into this weedy patch, but that weed is doing a massive amount of good, it is using up all the nutrients in the water, like nitrogen and Phosphate two of the key ingredients of causing green algae and after the heavy rain we have just had I would expect a rise in both of these elements, the resurrected defunct Police club returned on Thursday night both lads doing very well 6 fish each, Wednesday saw Derek Robertson with 7 rainbows and one brown trout, Grant McGregor going back to work had a last days fishing on Tuesday, 12 all returned using a flashback pheasant tailed nymph, showing the way for others and it turned out to be a great day for fishing, Les Mitchell, 4 returned, John Bashford,4 2 kept for 6 lbs, Sandy Drummond, 6 2 kept for 5 lbs, Mr Joiner, Errol had 1 at 2+lbs, S Milne having a great day had 15, all this on a day that was supposed to be wet and windy, others fishing this week all enjoyed the peace and quiet,
