“The Goldenloch”
June-15th-2020-Week-23- Eased Lockdown Week-12
Jeepers, the world really has gone bonkers, crazy things are happening everywhere, to me it looks like there is no law and order, living in Scotland has become even more important than ever, this is why it’s so good that people can go Fly Fishing, is a way of escapism, it is a relaxing of the mind, getting away from life’s struggles, personal freedom, forget everything, do something you want to do, here at the “Goldenloch” we wish to reassure our clients that once you have arrived, you are in place that, is yours for the day, no one is going to bother you, it’s you versus nature, relaxation is paramount, you are in a tranquil friendly surrounding, where everything has been sanitised, social distancing is normal here, has been for ever, due to the fact we have ample space for parking and bank fishing, plus our boats are by far the biggest around, the fishing just now is absolutely amazing, yep we had a day or two last week with low air pressure and a cold east wind, spoiling the fishing, but that passed, if its big numbers you want to catch, we can’t compete with fisheries that are newly stocked, however our fish are naturalised, they eat what’s in the water, which is full of trout tasty grub, flies hatching and emerging on the surface give way to dry fly fishing and fantastic catches, too many great catches to list, a lot of much bigger fish going about this year and extremely clean fish, a lot of Brownies in the 3> 4 lb range plus rainbows at 6>8 lbs, a couple of weeks ago I informed that we had Blanket Algae, this is now passing away and disappearing, leaving only small patches, the water is crystal clear and although we have minor weed in small areas, it is nothing to much to worry about, weed is good, it offers cover for the fish but more importantly it supports a massive insect life, fly hatches just now are excellent, damsel flies are in abundance as are stoneflies and caddis fly, in fact just about every fly imaginable except, Mayfly, sadly none, now interestingly and angler friend phoned last night after a days fishing, to say on cleaning his fish one was stuffed with Pea Muscles / clams, now as a boy I used to go fishing with my dad, the only other place that had Pea Clams / Muscles, was Loch Fitty and in those days the fishing was amazing, they are great at water purification but more importantly a source of protein for the fish as well as shrimp, snails, flies etc, so pop up we are here not overly busy but then we don’t want to be, its your day out we wand you to enjoy it.
Fly Fishing is one of life’s oldest leisure activities, A Pastime, it is not only relaxing, it is rewarding for the mind and soul, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only peaceful surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
