“The Goldenloch”
June-7th-2020-Week-22- Eased Lockdown Week-11
We are very happy to be open and fishing again, officially as from tomorrow, 8th June, we are back pretty much to normal, well as normal as the new regulations allow, so we still have travel restrictions in place, we have social distancing, we have disinfecting procedures to administer, names and addresses must be recorded in case tracing is required, etc, but we are very pleased that everything is working well, a few hiccups with some older anglers, not quite understanding, but generally all good, the fishing has been tough, but its supposed to be challenging, that’s why its called fishing and not just going to catch trout, seems like there is just a huge, massive amount of feeding in the water, plus some very bright sunshine, early morning fishing is really good, as is late evening, anglers can arrive as early as 5 am by prior arrangement, also we allow late night fishing again we have to know who it is, we started on Monday, gently, making sure anglers were not in any way harassed and that we staggered lads arriving, this week and we are aware that some people are still very cautious and nervous about getting out, going fishing just call me 07968006367 and I will make sure that you get into a secluded spot so as not to be near others, but if in doubt then stay safe.
Dave Wilson, Rod Thaw were the first sharing a boat and the distance apart was nearly 3 meters, that’s the bonus of our long boats, also the ease that they can be manoeuvred makes parking them a dawdle, they now have to be reversed in to their respective bay, a double hitching system ensures a stable mounting and dismounting platform, should eliminate shoulder accidents, as I know all about that, however we do not have an issue with the fact that some people wish to have a boat on their own, so feel free, catches this week have been really good, any blanks have been during the really hot days, Saturday night, (very cold and a lot of Rain) Sunday morning was a bit strange but that came right about 10 am and anglers mostly on the bank started to catch, by mid / late afternoon everyone had 3 or more the evening then just burst into life.
The Blanket Algae and its NOT green algae as such, is pretty much dying out naturally, I am glad we left it to its own natural end, the water is crisp and clear fish are in top class fighting order and to date, no signs or trace of Argulus, during lockdown I discovered some places where they had been laying their eggs, so these were removed, with us treating them last September perhaps we have had some kind of control of this really nasty problem, we can only wait and see.
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
