“The Goldenloch”
June-1st-2020-Week-21- Eased Lockdown Week-10
Hi everybody, at the “Goldenloch” a second start to the new season, 2020, today the 1st of June, we had basically anglers arriving to fish , not a lot but enough, I wanted do you have a reasonably quiet start, it pretty much panned out that way, it was a good day the first was due to start at 5:00 AM but he slept in, arriving at 6, quickly followed by two more at 7 and another two at 8am, all as planned, all went straight into catching fish a great start, Darrin getting three triple hook ups, however the Sun got up pretty quick turning a great morning into a blistering hot day, forward a few hours more angles arriving to fish on the bank, our flag system is working well, if an angler is on a boat or a jetty, on departing they turn the green board / marker from green to red, this allows us to disinfect that area, so as the next person has the security and knowledge everything is clean, tonight 5 boats out and everyone is catching pretty much all the time, water is clear and although the temperature is higher than we would have liked a drop with rain is due on Wednesday.
The hot weather has brought with it a new problem in the form of a massive attack of blanket algae, we have had this before, this time unless it gets a lot worse we will let it run its course and remove it as it come to the side of the water, fish love it as it offers shelter from the sun and it is a massive breeding ground for insects and invertebrate’s, it is unsightly but it is good not something to tackle with an electric motor, The Osprey’s have done a fair bit of damage with a few fish showing wound injuries, Please kill and remove.
Been watching the news and it is really alarming the amount of people that are disrespecting the basic rules of trying to beat this dreadful virus, most fisheries in Fife respected the Governments’ ruling about closing their business, I am also sure that nearly all anglers appreciate just how much pain and stress it put on a lot of families, hopefully now its over and a second infection would be just terrible, one or two fisheries were pushed to nearly prematurely opening purely from a financial point but sense prevailed, lets build on this and carve a new way forward making Fife the place for tourists to come for fishing. I am pretty sure it won’t be hard to get a grant from Fife Council to pull a brochure together for all fisheries in Fife and Kinross, but for now its stay safe stay alert and stay disinfected.
