“The Goldenloch”

March-22nd-2020-Week 12

This last week has been honestly, quite unbelievable, all the stuff that is happening is quite extraordinary, where do I start, where is all this government money coming from, it’s only a few years ago that we were in complete austerity, people were without work and starving, couldn’t afford to buy food, plus getting thrown out their houses, the government, AKA Westminster, who are in charge of the purse, basically must have been lying so much, the huge salaries they pay themselves are disgusting, I now have honestly no faith in this UK system, so but I am Scottish, I am not a nationalist, but I will say here and now, I do like the way Scotland is being run at this time, Don’t tell me, that government didn’t realise that people were going to panic buy, of course they did, and the shops just now are being raped, because of this terrible virus, the media and the Tories are just making it worse,  it is not necessary, it is just appalling, why do people do this, what makes some people behave like complete and utter morrons, what drives them to be idiots, people that need provisions can’t get them, people from the country that travel to town, they by a weeks’ worth of food at one time, are being denied the ability to buy more than two of anything, yet I know some  people, that have got a garage full of food, going out there buying extra freezers to put all the extra food in, they’re going to buy of more this week, they  just have too much money or they have no idea what they’re doing, it’s beyond comprehension.

As a fishery, we will try to stay open as long as we can, it’s not about being greedy for the money, as you will read in this post, its about giving to people the ability to come into the countryside do a little bit of fishing, Fly fishing is unique, people that do it, just love the challenge, but they also like solitude, they enjoy space, they enjoy being able to get away from all the troubles that I wrote about above, for some and it is a mean thing to say, but a lot of men enjoy getting away from the wife and kids, and why shouldn’t they, fishing here at “The Goldenloch,” is not like anywhere else, so let’s be responsible about coming here to fish, there is a risk, however we can with your help make it as low risk as possible,  that is why we ask you to stay away from each other, me especially, this weekend I was very pleased to see that most clients were doing that, most like to fish on their own, I gave away £600  worth of vouchers {30 in total}, this weekend to people that I reckon will make good use of some free fishing, if not themselves, but someone that they know, has been put out of work or similar or their work is no longer there for them, by doing this I hope that people that take advantage will come and relax, enjoy a little bit of that me time, I am absolutely sure I will see every voucher I gave out, it’s my little way of trying to help people get out of this horrible situation,  going fishing is a great cure for many ailments mostly in the head, so please see this in the light I do it for

The hut will be closed, unless, wet weather or the need for shelter, everything will be sprayed daily with disinfectant, Oars and boats, the toilet is to be tomorrow disinfested, generally we will be pretty lavish with the disinfectant, The Honesty box, of which there will be two, one in the hut and one in the car park.

So how is the fishing been, well it’s been very cold, it’s fishing much better in the morning up to say one or two o’clock, then it kind of goes quiet the afternoon or late afternoon, early evening has been pretty good as well, Black or green or black with a hot head orange, under a bung, has really been very successful, a lot of the fish are quite close to the loch sides, now the water  is 7 degrees which is surprising cause it was 3.6 degrees last week, just let you see how much the temperature can rise with a little sunshine, the water is crystal clear as all the sediment has settled back on the bottom, another load of fish are due next week, and hopefully they will stir up everything in the loch, so far this year that’s four full loads, plus another one to come the beginning of April, the fishing should be good fun, there was a good fly hatch tonight a lot of rising fish could be seen, again mostly at the margins the water was flat calm.

Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
