“The Goldenloch”
January 26th-2020-Week 4
Amazing week, very little rain, and for the first time in weeks the excess overflow has reduced to a trickle, it is still however very chilly, but it is nice to see that the grass bank is now able to carry weight, all this rain has done some interesting things, it has carried loads of the feeding that was generally on the banking’s and washed it into the water, this borne out by the fact that the fish have been feeding very close to the shore,(the water is warmer) several anglers this week have had great catches either from the jetties or boats close in to the bank. Last weekend was bitter cold and honestly for the first time in years anglers were beaten by cold fingers and chilly faces, Paul and Stevie both having great fishing however, both in a boat each and using completely different patterns of flies it didn’t seem to matter they were catching fish, Grant McGregor on his first outing this year did really well as did most guys fishing, slightly brighter but definitely much warmer weather came in for the rest of the week, which did help to improve things, but mostly in the late afternoons, Eck minus Andrew had a really good day 8 to the net, Allan Montgomery with his pal 6 all on cormorants, this weather has allowed me to do is some boat refurbishment, every year, we at some point take every boat out the water a jet wash, paint and repair them, gets them back into tip top condition, Brian Kemp having a good day with 6 I think Neil Christie struggled a bit this week which I didn’t understand as everyone else that day did well, the cormorants have stopped coming mostly due to my efforts in frightening them away I think, either that or they have found easier pickings somewhere else, Looking forward a new load of fish will soon be added which will be the third this year making a very healthy head of fish all we need is some warmer weather
