“Goldenloch”
October-20th– 2019, Week 41
Woke up this morning Monday 21st October, suddenly realising that we are well and truly into Autumn, it may be that the leaves are slow to turn colour this year, but has any one else noticed that the leaves are just dropping off the trees green, the ground is also absolutely saturated with the rain water, this will be an excellent year for the eels to migrate, they like a good flood, however they will only travel under a full moon, rowan trees and hawthorn are absolutely covered in berries, the chestnuts this year well massive doesn’t even go near to describe them, our family believe that if you put a chestnut in each corner of your house windows it will keep spiders at bay, so gathering chesses is an important occasion, however it’s the fishing that is a winner just now cold weather makes the fish come alive, but we do still have some casualties from that long hot summer lingering in the loch, there actually isn’t much wrong with them its more like a healing process but if you catch a fish with a white mould or what looks like cotton wool on it please just dispatch it and leave it on the jetty where I will dispose it, but this past week, so much rain, a lot for this time of year, fully expected murky water, but no its still crystal clear, fish are just under the surface and feeding, been great fishing, John Paisley today fishing from the bank had good sport 4 or 5 I cant remember, but he said he absolutely enjoyed his session, George Duff a long time regular 7 all returned on black snatchers, Grant McGregor 8 all returned with a few at 5 or 6 lbs mini cat, Grieg Smith 4 2 kept diawl bachs, A Radolve, 3 kept 2 caught on a blob, Rod Thaw on Saturday had 9, Steve Hampshaw fishing with his mate Dave Fleming and unfortunately he blanked did poor Dave, others did well this week, but conditions were poor, a lot of wind and rain however A Hyndman caught 11 on Kate McLaren, D Robertson had 10, Sandy Band several, Ian Adams catching on a cormorant, today it turned really cold and it wasn’t pleasant, this cold spell will see the end of the summer fishermen and I would expect Brian Imrie to be cuddled into the fire and TV
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
