“Goldenloch”
June-24th– 2019, Week 23
At last we seem to be getting out of this situation with the fish not rising or feeding, water samples and tests have all been done, nothing has shown up as abnormal, one test did show a slightly higher Nitrogen level, but nothing too outrageous, evening rises are happening but the fish are still very fussy, importantly the fly choice is the key just now and some people are getting it right over others Grant Macgregor, Kirkcaldy having a great day on Saturday, 8 caught and released with a lot more lost, Colin Hay, Kirkcaldy however had one and enjoyed his evening fishing till late saying it was very challenging but great sport, they water is much clearer and the cloudy water is clearing, this may have just been a unique problem to us hear at the “Goldenloch” or it may be that other fisheries may have had the same problem with fish not feeding or rising, whatever it would seem that this spring so far has been a nature disaster, discussion with a very highly respected friend it would seem that this year has seen some major upsets in the wildlife circles, lots of wild bird eggs not hatching due to the cold snap earlier, the massive lack of insects and flying bugs because of the same cold weather, apple and plum trees not setting and the list goes on, an environmental disaster, I can only speak about here but it would seem its pretty widespread, we are I feel over the hill so to speak, the recent few days sunshine has seen a big improvement in the circle of nature but there is a massive void in fledglings and other winged birds, the insects are picking up slowly as well with damsel flies back albeit nothing like they were, so this week has been a massive improvement on the previous one but we have still got some improvement to make, interestingly everyone visiting has still enjoyed there visit and that’s what it should be.
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
