“Goldenloch”
March- 10th- 2019, Week 10
At the “Goldenloch”, this last week, crazy weather has been causing chaos to the fishing, some guys manage to adapt very quickly to the sudden cold snap, realising that the weather had changed so much, the water temperature down 2 degrees back to 5 from 7, the wind direction turning right round bringing cold air from the artic, this saw the fish move from the centre of the loch to the margins, extremely heavy rain and the high winds stirred up the water from gin clear to a pale green basically all the dead material from the bottom, for a couple of days the fishing was putting it mildly HARD, why is it, what happens, well the fish do not like when things are disturbed, for weeks they have been feeding on the available food in the settled mud on the loch floor plus molluscs and insects, with the wind and rain everything is basically stirred up, the food source vanishes in the dirt, the fish which are still hungry because they always are, move into the margins which are less disturbed, also are much warmer plus considerably clearer, Dan Peach, Perth, 9 all returned, silver Invictas and buzzers, Sandy Drummond, Kingskettle 9 all returned all on buzzers, James Butters 5, all returned, Allan Taylor, 10 all returned, Lyall Dow, Newburgh only fishing for an hour had 3 on a cormorant and black/red buzzer, Rod Thaw, 6 on buzzers, Alan Gray at last 2, Brian Dewar, 8 returned and Eck Burns, 8 returned so all in all catches are still good especially when you realise that this is the second week in March which and is really cold.
