Goldenloch
October – 29th – Week43-2018
Lots of action this week, seems like the fish have moved pretty much from one side of the loch to the other, water temperature is now 8 degrees, which is pretty normal for November, that in itself means that the food reserves in the water will be starting to deplete, but it hasn’t stopped the fish from rising, strangely enough as early this morning there were a huge amount of fish showing, right in the centre of the loch, this weeks fishing has been, Neil Christie, 5 returned, Brian Kemp, 5 returned, Sandy Drummond, 9 returned, lost 5, Best this week Dan and Trevor Peach, 20+ all returned, having a great day was Colin Hay, using silver Zulus and Olive fritz 8 returned, not bad for a couple of hours, Rod Thaw using a bloodworm / buzzer, 9 returned, fishing on a cold day was John J Hunter and Roger 9 fish and 5 lost for John, Steve Mc Carthy, not been here for years had a good morning in the old harbour bay with 11 all returned, the water in the loch isn’t at capacity yet but is getting there, the Bathymetric Survey that we are currently undertaking, has some amazing plus points which are all good when it comes to fishing, it shows where the weeds are, plus it also indicates the places that the fish are lying in and routes they travel on, also a big plus is that samples taken from the water also show the Nitrogen, Phosphates and Potash levels in the water as well as Oxygen and any traces of any pollutants, Jenny the lady who is doing it stressed that way back in the 1900s when most of the freshwater lochs in Scotland were done it was by teams of hundreds of people, its never been done again since then, to me as owner and operator, it is truly fantastic information and well worth the effort and cost, however it is not information that should really be available to anglers as fly fishing is about finding out where the fish are, what is going to catch them today, thus giving huge pleasure and a restful day to those that enjoy their pastime.
