Goldenloch
October – 22nd – Week42-2018
If fishing were easy, I mean really easy, anglers would become bored and loose interest very quickly, well that would happen eventually, what gets an angler excited is fish tugging and nibbling at the fly on the line, sometimes its just a sudden bang and the fish is on the hook, most of the time it’s the nibble and then a strike by the angler and its fish on, fish only eat very small amounts of natural food {protein} as they need very little energy to survive, they have over time developed an amazing ability to find the types of food they want to eat, that’s why it is sometimes really hard to find what they are taking, just now here at the “Goldenloch” it would seem that the fish are very active and feeding from 5 > 6 am till approx 11 am and then again from about 6pm in the evening the period in the middle of the day is the hardest time to catch fish, yet it is the time that anglers decide to come fishing, catches do happen but nothing like they are early morning or in the evening, Tim Dover, Bridge of Earn fishing from the bank on Friday caught 2 for nearly 6lbs, hard fighting especially as it was a very cold afternoon, Monday till Thursday saw four days of flat calm with really bright Sunshine just the thing that fish hate and with the weed cover pretty much completely collapsed there is little protection fore them to hide under Stewart Milne did well with 11, and Colin Hay fishing at the far end of the loch using a Bibio/Montana/ Olive Fritz in what could only be described as very bright conditions had 7, Steve Smart, Strathmiglo fishing in the early evening had 7 using bloodworms, but changed to a dry sedge and had 6 with loads interested, Rab Grierson, Methil a lad that always does well here had a great day yesterday as did Brian Dewar and A Stenhouse and A Scobie the later two fishing from the bank, but its not all easy as some others found out, all the above lads are pretty much experienced anglers and know how to catch fish in trying conditions, these fish are all on natural food and have been for some time, the ability to catch them comes with experience and technique, good casting and good retrieval methods are essential, it is a joy to watch these lads fish and yesterday was one of those days.
