Goldenloch
August 27th-Week-34-2018
Ok its now Sunday, Saturday evening turned out to be a complete surprise, looks like this brown algae, what ever it is, reacts to light, let me explain, as the evening started to arrive and the sunlight dropped and I am talking about early darkness, the fish rise started, fish showing everywhere, also birds and bats were very much in abundance, on closer examination the brown discoloration in the water had pretty much faded, it seems like the hatch of insects was being held up as well as the fish not feeding, for years now, I have had the theory that although fish have supposedly got ace eyesight, that they also have some kind of super sensitive sonar system, which is in their forehead, as a young boy, I had many days fishing with my father and friends, spent on Cameron, Clatto and Loch Leven, noise in the boat was absolutely forbidden, in fact no speaking or sudden movement was the order of the day, the reason was the fish according to these piers knew you were there, it was also my theory that insect movements were detected long before they were seen, when fishing on the river for salmon even in dirty water, fish are caught when the spinners were pulled through the water due to the noise they made, also in dirty water it is very hard to catch salmon using just flies, To day Sunday hasn’t been a very pleasant day to be fishing, changing wind and heavy gusting showers, pretty wet but at night as it was last night, a good rise and feeding fish the water much clearer than it was two days ago, looking forward I reckon with confidence it will be over completely soon and the fishing will be back to normal, tonight Sunday Colin and James arriving late both did really well with James the less experienced getting 7 all on yellow owls and Colin fishing buzzers and Diawl Bachs 5 all returned, Monday morning all looking good water is clear as Gin and fish are feeding back to normal, Nige Hutchison, Photographer was here on Saturday and got some good shots for all to see, |Ospreys are now young ones and make a complete mess of taking fish, think it was Thursday last week there were five ducking and diving, they will soon be heading south to Africa.
