Goldenloch
July16th -Week-28-2018
Normal service has resumed, after the last 10 days in which we have has lots go wrong with the water, at last some welcomed rain, not a lot, however enough, more importantly a slightly cooler breeze has allowed the water to kind of sort itself a bit, so we had an algal bloom which surprised me a little, I knew that the phosphate and Potash levels were good, the nitrogen level had risen a little, but I didn’t think it would do any harm, what I hadn’t banked on was a water temperature rise to over 20 degrees, in all the years we have managed the water, it never ever went over 20, but this year we were at 22 degrees for 48 hours, the outcome was fish on the surface cruising about and lethargic fish just under the surface, so we have had some fish loses, but in truth mostly due to a psycho seagull, which has eluded the taste of lead, due mostly to the fact I think it is super intelligent, its days are however numbered, what it is doing is waiting till these lethargic fish are up on the surface and then it attacks the eyes of the fish, it seems to have a taste for them, these fish then just die, anyway Shaun and Darrin had a nice day, a very hot day with a couple of fish but a great day, Puff of Huff & Puff had a stormer of a day when the clouds came over he had, 10, Ten in total, all returned, Sunday was the day of footie and Wimbledon however Dave Wilson and his pal arrived and soon had 4 all about a kilo in size, Harry Donald, and his brother Arthur both had a stormer of a day using buzzers and nymphs’, 18 to the boat all returned, all in great nick, this years fundraiser that Scott Mudie makes an amazing job at organising, saw 8 lads fish here, as well as four other venues, a long day but well worth the effort to raise money for the Intensive Care Unit at Victoria Hospital, a proper and real fundraiser for an excellent cause, donations still being received, Congratulations to every one that participated as far as most are concerned you all won, its just that Scott out fished everybody, Lol.
