Goldenloch
April 02nd -Week-13-2018
These last few weeks of March have proved to be a really tough, when some anglers arrived here they were surprised at the cold chill in the wind, some were not really fully prepared for a bitter cold winters days, gearing up some went fishing, others took my advice to come back another day, problem is, its all keyboard hype, sitting in a nice cosy room ,peoples brains sometimes go into overdrive about catching fish, however after arriving it soon becomes apparent they will become frozen and get chilled to the bone, later in this week the weather will change, both the temperature and wind direction will alter for the better, but it really started on the last day of March, Saturday, however it really didn’t make a huge difference till Sunday 1st April when the fishing really moved up a gear and 15 anglers all had a great day, fish were being caught mostly on buzzers, there was a small hatch and I mean small, a few were being caught or perhaps the correct statement should be, enticed by blood worms, but seriously at this time of year fish are not actively looking for grub, the few there is are big bonus, these fish that are in the loch just now are pretty much naturalised and are after what is in the water, they shouldn’t really be interested in blobs or bungs, but a few were showing interest, however using his own pretty natural tied flies, Rab Grierson accompanied by Derry Forrester and Ian Wallace all had a great day, sadly though they were missing John Hennan, recovering from a small illness, we all wish you well Mr Hennan, others having a great day was regulars Brian Dewar and Alec Burns, finding fish more or less only feet away from the shoreline. Gordon Haldane had a great day bettering his last one here, and K Dickson with K Cook just were enjoying the full thing not just the fishing but the fact it was a great day and April 1st, I had Brian McGlashan pencilled in to do another casting clinic which was to be held this Saturday coming, as there has not been any interest in this event and also due to the cold spell that has come back “The Beast from The East” the remake I have taken the decision to cancel it, but with good weather due sometime perhaps another day may suit. Just patience is what is required and the weather to improve.
