Goldenloch
Is it that “abnormal” is now the new normal, weather wise this has been quite a big odd week, the week started with massive gales last Monday and Tuesday, funnily enough it was still fishable in certain areas, we had sheltered spots, fishing on Monday was Allan Hyndman, 2 kept and 8 returned, using CDCs & B Buzzers, D Robertson, Dundee, 8 all on CDCs, Tuesday, not as windy saw Les Mitchell and Jim Pollock with 1 each but others doing much better, S Milne 10, J Bashford 5, and S Drummond 6, all these gents extremely pleased with there catches, as the week progressed things changed quite a bit, we had a massive rain on Wednesday and Thursday, enough to put the new overflow into action for the first time on our new and improved spillway, John McClelland, Lochgelly had 2 cracking hard fighting fish, John always use dries and CDCs, and Mr Jim Selfridge, 7, using Montana’s, Friday night saw the biggest temperature drop for a long time, from a 18 day steady average of 12 degrees, to 3.5 degrees, two early morning anglers were pretty disappointed at the lack of fish movement, both could be verbally heard at their displeasure in not catching lots of fish, always the reason anglers arrive early doors, however things improved dramatically, as the air temperature increased later in the day and the remaining 8 anglers all returning at least 8 each, two late arrivals getting some amazing chill time, on exactly the same spot with a catch at nearly every cast, Sunday was another good day, Brian Dewar and Alec Burns not having been here for a long time, certainly have not lost their touch in being able to catch fish, both lads covered every area of the loch and caught numerous fish everywhere, in the process were handing flies to other anglers helping them as they progressed round the loch, but definitely the best catch of the day and for weeks had to be Lewis Forsyth, Lewis was one of the reasons we built seats into the new jetties, he has a slight problem with standing and not having seen him for months, we were a wee bit concerned about his wellbeing, but yesterday he was back and on great form, catching a couple of nice well formed troots all on his own.
