Goldenloch
Sept 17-Week-39-2017
Never seen a week like this for a long time, so many fish getting caught, amazing catches, mostly on dries, wets and buzzers, water is now more normal, nearly clear, mostly due to two days of an East wind, a day of a North West wind, and today a North wind, but strangely not one of those days was it cold, yes it was a lot cooler than previous, but not what you would call cold, so the Algae has gone, water clarity is really good and the fish although not rising for feeding but are up on the surface and taking flies just under or of the top, the Ospreys are obviously getting ready to go South to Africa, this weekend anglers have been treated to young Ospreys’ learning to catch their grub (I just wish they would do it somewhere else) this because these stupid fish are cruising just under the surface, Rod Thaw, Kingskettle fishing today, Sunday had one that had a badly slashed back, due to a young osprey not being able to lift the fish out the water, however the rest of the fish he caught were well finned and healthy, Carpet Bob had an exceptional days sport, all on dries as usual and all returned, he really loves his fishing and enjoys a good days sport, Richard Nixon caught 7, all returned, Stewart Milne, Glenrothes was just having a relaxing day, with 9 all returned, having a seat after catching two, then just watching the wildlife, would catch another couple and chill, great days fishing for a long time, Brian Stewart and Willie Robertson, Dundee, 9 each all returned small, Greenwell’s and spiders, Huff and Puff, nothing to complain about, had 17 between them, on CDC / Buzzers / hoppers Black / green being the colours, this week also saw a massive invasion of swallows and swifts with seagulls mixed in obviously something was attracting them but again this is a very strange year, Eddie Henderson, Perth, had 5 on dry flies and Russell Hall, Cupar, 7, 3 on a yellow muddlers and 4 on a green Fritz, Sandy Drummond fishing with J Bashford, an old Loch Leven angler had 16 all on black / green wets and dry flies, Brian Grove and Callum Munro, I think had their best days sport fishing ever, with numerous fish caught they deserve it as they are game lads, in all its been a great week, the loch is performing really well and with 50% weed free and the rest with thin bits the weed is not a problem, The Kaptain hasn’t visited for a long time and as usual he is missing all the good fishing.
