Goldenloch
Aug-02nd-Week-32-2017
This is a weird week, for a few days now about 10 ish there is very little in the way of flies hatching in the loch, the fish are still being seen and jumping yet are not getting anything of the surface, lads fishing dry flies and hoppers / spiders are catching in good numbers, lads fishing lures are really struggling, sedges, sedge hogs and similar were doing well but have lost the edge, so the impending disaster is coming “Barries Angling Club” are here this weekend “Oh no” today 1 guy had a great day whilst everyone else caught ones and twos, last night Peter Barnes had 12 on dries, the Kaptain had 8, I believe, however not verified.
Because some people are doing outstandingly well and some others are really struggling, we are reintroducing the quadrant rule, so, 2 imaginary lines cuts the loch into 4 quarters, if you are staying put in a quarter and you catch 9 fish, then you have to move to another quarter, regardless of how many fish your boat partner may have caught, the reason that this is so that anglers cannot hog into hot spots and not allow others to catch a few fish.
I do hope and trust that anglers see the reason for doing this, the major benefit is that it should increase the amount of fish being caught by different anglers, and peoples trips to come fishing at the Goldenloch will be more pleasant rather than watching someone catching at nearly every cast.
