Goldenloch
June-19TH –Week 25- 2017
What an amazing transformation and all in a few days, we have gone from a heat wave to wet windy, flood, now back to heat, the conditions on the loch these past few days have been pretty much perfect, seriously anybody not coming fishing just now you really don’t know what you are missing, the condition of the fish is truly fantastic, the fly life hatches are stunning with fish being caught all day, and these are proper feeding fish, chasing and swamping flies on the surface, but it’s the sheer numbers of fish that are doing this that is unnerving, over the weekend the average catch for some has been well over 10 fish each, and more, the water is now clear again and the weed is sporadic, however it is a well known fact that the weed is what is helping make the fishing so good, its not that bad and anglers don’t have to go where there is weed, its just a pity that’s where the fish are, For sport its truly amazing just now we have been really lucky that we had the wet spell last week it has done so much to improve things, not seen a few lads for a while huff and puff come back all is forgiven, Kaptain Kemp must have found a new sport, perhaps golf, and to everyone else the fishing is ace just now, Mr and Mrs Brown this last week had 9, M Dobson Glenrothes 7 and R Kershaw Glenrothes 5 both using popper hoppers, R Bowers, Leslie 6, muddler / damsel, Dave Wilson, Kingskettle 8 damsels, Eddie Henderson Perth, 3 dry flies, Alex Lees Kirkcaldy 3, ace of spades, Craig Scott 2 for 5lbs and 18 released, Ronnie Forsyth 14 all returned using sedges, Gordon Clark, Auchtermuchty 10, Kev Macgregor 12, black buzzers, however Hamish Robertson fishing with his father in law (86) from Scone was having a great evenings fishing in the shade of the dying sun at the very far end of the loch when after returning 8 fish he hooked into using a fawn parachute buzzer a extremely large Blue trout, he managed to get the fish to the net and whilst they were netting his 3 lb line snapped at the dropper, Hamish described the fish as fully finned and fit, he reckoned between 8 and 10 pounds, it came out of the rushes at the top of the loch with a 3 to 4 inch bow wave taking the fly off the surface, it was like something from Jaws a flat calm and then suddenly this thing appeared, whilst it was being played they could see it as clear as day as it fought to get free, truly a catch to remember, and that’s what fishing should be that special day out having fun.
