Goldenloch
June-11TH –Week 24- 2017
So I believe the terminology for a flood warning / event is “Yellow Alert” well we are having one here, but its partly my fault the reasons being that this last week has been extremely wet, a record amount of rainfall, I myself got well and truly soaked on Friday and I am suffering now, I must have got a proper chill, my bones are aching, on the plus side the Algae problem has completely gone, the water level has risen quite a bit, basically we have waited for weeks to work on the outflow and at this moment it is half constructed, the fishing recently has really taken off and is outstanding, some fantastic catches are being had, the weed that one particular lad was moaning about is confined to a small area, and not causing any problems to anybody yet I would suggest that if some peoples thing is fishing with large heavy lures then this is not probably his best venue to be fishing at, average catches this week are 10 to 14 fish, today I had a visit from my retied entomologist friend who at 89 is not nearly as nibble as he used to be, I spent 2 hours with him, he showed me the Mayfly nymph which best resemble a prehistoric bug (monster) and its they that have been causing all the reeds to fall over as they bite through the stems, now the mayfly you would assume comes out in May but a change in the calendar eons ago sees them at there peak just now and the large fly that is scooting across the loch is indeed a mayfly which can be best seen on a flat calm, so I was treated to delightful display to something’s I didn’t even know we had , we then progressed to look at other bugs, nymphs, larvae, all stuff that’s very easily found yet to most they don’t even know its there, this morning is just perfect for fishing with a gentle breeze and no rain forecast.
Craig Scott, Kirkcaldy a few, W Pryde, Gateside a few less, John Grey, Auchtermucty 7, Don Stewart, Glasgow 8, Mr and Mrs Brown after a few years absent had 5 or 6 all on Diawl Bachs, Eddie Henderson Perth 7, no huffs or puffs this week they must have gone to Balado, loads more too many to mention but everyone getting fish.
