Goldenloch
April-24th–Week 17- 2017
Getting cold again, forecast this week is for snow, east wind gusting hard just now, Sunday, this is putting the fish proper down deep, anglers catching the odd fish that’s feeding but nothing like what there should be, good thing is, almost everybody is getting fish, some nice size fish being caught this year, the quality is excellent, its worth noting that we only buy fish at 1 kilo that’s 2.2 lbs, which is a fair sized fish by most peoples standards, so any fish that is over 3.5lbs will have been in our water for at least a year or more since being introduced, whether you can officially call it a wild fish or not, at least the meat on its back is entirely grown by the fish feeding on natural food, A successful day was had by those attending the “Goldenloch Casting Clinic” Brian McGlashan gave a demonstration on the many varied casting techniques’ that are commonly used to catch fish, he also watched those attending cast, offering advice and tips, pretty sure those attending will put these new skills to good use, it came to those attending attention that there seems to be a few younger lads keen on learning to fish, perhaps other lochs know of some lads as well, we don’t and never have charged for beginners, only that instructors are paid, I am sure other lochs think similar, so if there are a few lads lets put them all together and get them started, I am quite happy to organise but it doesn’t have to be here as I do realise that we are quite a long way away from Kirkcaldy, Kennoway Etc, so lets put something together. The next few days should be interesting with snow forecast, at this time of year it will at least melt quick and the ground which hasn’t seen rain now for a good few weeks will be able to absorb more or less everything that is to be thrown at us.
